Natexpo 2019: a review of the main trends

13.11.2019

The international trade fair for organic professionals, Natexpo, which took place from 20 to 22 October in Paris, highlighted new trends that go beyond organic.

  1. To enhance the value of surplus raw materials
Today, the society is in a process of fighting against waste. Some brands decided to use surplus raw materials for the design of their products.
  2. To work on recyclable packaging
Sustainable development and ecology are among the priorities. Companies are trying to work on packaging to make it as "clean" as possible.
  3. To democratize new foods
In the organic world, niche foods or ingredients have seduced purists. But at the moment, manufacturers are trying to democratize their uses to make them more accessible for daily consumption.
  4. To develop new uses
Industrialists, large and small, are thirsty for creativity. They do not hesitate to develop their products to diversify their uses and meet consumer expectations.
  5. Enhance the value of the sectors and the local area

This trend is based on three main pillars: organic, local and artisanal.

The AgriWasteValue project really is in line with this year’s trends and expectations from the consumers. It aims to valorise the surplus of raw materials available in the North-West regions of Europe, it works on developing new uses and it creates local value chains.
